Planning an eye-care visit for the family
A little preparation makes it easier to give each person their own attention.
Book for each person
Family members may have different reasons for visiting. Let the practice know how many people need appointments and the main purpose for each. Family Eye offers one-hour appointment slots, with up to three bookings in the same hour. A family of five needs at least two start times.
Bring the useful details
Bring current glasses, contact lens information if relevant, recent prescriptions and a list of medicines or relevant health conditions. Note when symptoms started and which tasks are difficult. Children may benefit from having a parent or guardian explain observations from home or school.
Make room for different preferences
Give each person space to explore their own frame style. Save a few favourites beforehand rather than trying to agree on one look for everyone. Appearance, comfort and prescription needs should all be discussed individually.
Know when not to wait
A scheduled routine visit is not an emergency service. Sudden loss of vision, a curtain or shadow in vision, new flashes with many floaters, severe eye pain or an injury require urgent medical assessment. Ask the practice about appointment preparation and the services available before travelling.
General information, not an individual diagnosis or prescription. Product suitability and availability are checked in store.
